The objective of this study is to assess the readiness of Brazilian port infrastructures to accommodate vessels using low-emission fuels and to identify ongoing decarbonization initiatives in the ports and the port services provided. Additionally, it aims to explore the potential of low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives for the decarbonization of Brazilian ports, disseminate the obtained diagnoses, and provide a guide of best practices and recommendations for port decarbonization. This final report includes the regulatory analysis, the maturity level of the technologies, and the opportunities and challenges related to the implementation of new technologies with a focus on low-carbon hydrogen.
